Adenta Kumi’s claims against justices are serious and deserve investigation

Former Tamale Central MP and legal practitioner, Inusah Fuseini, says he is not surprised that state security operatives are seeking further information from Alfred Ababio Kumi, popularly known as Adenta Kumi, following his recent allegations against members of the judiciary.
Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show, Mr. Fuseini noted that Kumi’s claims—particularly those involving justices of the superior court and a lawyer involved in the ongoing petition for the removal of the Chief Justice—have understandably raised significant public concern.
“I am not surprised because the allegations he made against the justices of the superior court of judicature and the lawyer who is representing one of the petitioners clearly drew serious concern from the general public,” he said.
Kumi, a former parliamentary candidate for the Adenta constituency, recently petitioned the President to dissolve the committee investigating the Chief Justice. He claims to have seen members of the judicial committee dining with Thaddeus Sory, legal counsel for one of the petitioners, at a public restaurant.
While some legal professionals view such a meeting in a public space as improbable, Mr. Fuseini emphasized that Kumi’s entire petition hinges on the veracity of this alleged encounter.
“The whole basis of the petition of Adenta Kumi is the alleged meeting between the justices and counsel for one of the petitioners,” he explained. “If indeed the committee members met with the petitioner’s counsel to discuss matters related to the case, that suggests collusion and casts doubt on the fairness of the process.”
He further stressed that if the claims are true, the integrity of the committee could be compromised.
“If those people are acting in bad faith, then they are not fit to be on the committee. That is the foundation of the petition. But if no such meeting occurred, the petition has no merit—it’s based on an empty claim,” he added.
Mr. Fuseini concluded that the seriousness of the allegation makes it necessary for the appropriate security bodies to investigate the matter thoroughly.
