Africa must heal from her past to realize her potential

President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has urged Africa to heal from its past.

He holds the view that healing from its past will help Africans realise their potential.

The president made this known while delivering his AU Day message.

The President remarked that Africa Day 2025 must be a turning point for Africa.

He said, “Happy Africa Day!

Let us work together to build a future where justice prevails, where the wounds of the past are healed, and where the potential of every African and person of African descent is fully realised.

Let Africa Day 2025 be a turning point.

Let us move forward, united in purpose, towards a just and equitable future for all Africans and people of African descent”.

President John Dramani Mahama, who serves as the AU’s official champion for reparatory justice, reaffirmed his profound commitment to championing this critical cause for Africans and people of African descent worldwide.

“The AU has declared 2025 as the year for justice for Africans and people of African descent through reparations. As the AU champion for this critical cause, I am deeply committed to working with you all to achieve this objective.”
