We want him here physically

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has once again declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a wanted man—this time, with firmer language and the threat of international arrest looming.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday, June 3, 2025, the OSP said it has officially re-declared Mr. Ofori-Atta a fugitive from justice after he failed to honour a deadline to report in person to its headquarters on June 2.
“This office has always requested his attendance, and we have indicated clearly to him that we are unwilling to waive it,” the statement read. “If we were amenable to taking any statement from Ken Ofori-Atta in absentia, we would have done so in February, and not waited till June 2, 2025.”
The OSP made it clear that attempts by Ofori-Atta to negotiate terms on how the investigation should proceed would not be entertained.
“We want him here physically, and we insist on it. A suspect in a criminal investigation does not pick and choose how the investigative body conducts its investigations and the methods suitable to him and his convenience. We will not countenance this conduct, not in this case,” the OSP emphasized.
In addition to reactivating the fugitive status, the OSP revealed that it has initiated processes for an Interpol red notice to be issued for the arrest of Mr. Ofori-Atta, signaling a move to engage international law enforcement agencies in tracking him down.
This development follows months of back-and-forth between the former minister and the OSP.
Although Ofori-Atta had earlier pledged to return to Ghana in May after citing medical reasons for his absence, his failure to appear by the stated deadline has escalated the matter.
