Your silence on Sedina Tamakloe is damaging – Barker-Vormawor warns gov’t

Convener of #FixTheCountry, Osagyefo Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has called out Ghana’s Attorney-General, demanding swift action regarding the extradition of former MASLOC boss, Sedina Christine Tamakloe-Attionu.
Following her conviction in absentia for embezzling state funds, Barker-Vormawor questioned the government’s continued silence, warning it could affect public confidence in its commitment to justice.
“The Attorney-General must seek the extradition of Sedina Tamakloe or take steps to explain to us why her conviction is defective (if that’s his view). Silence on that issue can undermine the Government,” he said in a strongly-worded post.
Madam Tamakloe-Attionu, who once headed the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), was found guilty on 78 counts, including theft, conspiracy to steal, money laundering, and breaches of procurement law.
She was handed a 10-year prison sentence, while her former Chief Operating Officer, Daniel Axim, was sentenced to five years.
The trial revealed serious financial irregularities, with the court concluding that the two officials caused significant loss to the state.
However, unlike Axim, Tamakloe-Attionu was not present for the trial—she had earlier secured court permission to travel for medical reasons but failed to return.
The High Court has since issued a warrant for her arrest, following an ex-parte motion by state prosecutors.
Deputy Attorney-General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah had previously indicated that government was committed to initiating extradition processes to ensure Madam Tamakloe-Attionu faces the full weight of the law.
So far, no further update has been given regarding her extradition, leaving critics like Barker-Vormawor pressing for answers.
