Let right prevail over might – Chief Imam preaches moral renewal in Eid message

National Chief Imam, Shaikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has called for moral reawakening, social transformation, and an end to global conflicts as Muslims in Ghana and around the world prepare to celebrate Eid-Al-Adha.
In a message delivered on his behalf by his Personal Assistant, Dr Abubakari Mohammed Marzuq Azindoo, the revered Islamic leader underscored that the festival is not merely about rituals but a deeper spiritual call to piety and humanity.
“Eid-Al-Adha is a festivity of sacrifice and an opportunity to reaffirm our faith in Allah,” he stated, reminding Muslims that “Allah is not interested in the flesh and blood of the animals sacrificed… but in our commitment to piety.”
Shaikh Sharubutu’s message went beyond spiritual reflection, touching on urgent global issues, particularly the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and other conflict-ridden regions.
He urged world leaders and citizens alike to choose peace over violence and justice over domination.
“We cannot surrender our God-given humanity to modern-day barbarity in the name of supremacy. Let the global order reflect RIGHT over might, UNITY over disunity, FORGIVENESS over vindictiveness, RECONCILIATION over aggression, and PEACE over violence,” he declared.
Drawing from the shared values of the Abrahamic faiths, the Chief Imam emphasized that true sacrifice is seen in the rejection of selfishness and hatred, and in the promotion of collective good.
He appealed to Ghanaians to allow the moral significance of Eid to inspire a shift “from negativity to positivity in the supreme interest of our society.”
