It’s about time police personnel are allowed to vote for who becomes IGP -Coka

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, known popularly as Chairman Coka, has suggested that it is time policemen and women are given the opportunity to vote on who becomes the inspector general.

He is of the view that giving the authority to the police personnel will help prevent the Inspector General of Police from becoming a stooge of the incumbent government.

Coka shared this opinion while commenting on the lack of representation for the people of Ablekuma North in the Greater Accra Region.

To him, it is about time the IGP and all concerned come together to resolve the issues at stake and declare the winner of that constituency.

He said in a post shared via social media that “I was sad when I saw the “Mighty” minority marched to send a petition to the IGP on the non declaration of Ablekuma north constituency. So the police cannot provide security to the Electoral Commission to declare the winner of the Ablekuma North Constituency. Mr. IGP, please, Ablekuma north people need a representative in parliament. That’s why I support that policemen and women should be allowed to vote on who becomes the IGP. God bless Ghana. Coka, l care”.
