The family of former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, is hitting back at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), accusing it of pushing a political agenda instead of pursuing justice.
In a fresh lawsuit filed on June 3, the family is challenging the legality of the arrest warrant and questioning the integrity of the OSP’s request for an INTERPOL Red Notice.
“Did the OSP tell INTERPOL about the pending court case, his cancer diagnosis, or the medical documents? If they had, the Red Notice would’ve violated INTERPOL’s own rules,” the family stated in a statement released on Monday.
They claim the OSP is weaponizing its mandate to stage what they call a “political spectacle,” accusing the office of hiding key evidence and breaching basic human rights.
“Ken has never dodged accountability,” they insisted. “He faced CHRAJ, Parliament, and ECOWAS inquiries—and was cleared each time. This isn’t justice. This is vengeance.”
Despite being listed as “wanted” on INTERPOL’s website after missing a scheduled June 2 interrogation, the family insists Ofori-Atta is undergoing cancer treatment and has every intention of returning.
“Once he recovers, he will return to Ghana to answer any lawful inquiry. We believe he’ll be cleared—and justice will expose the real wrongdoers,” the statement concluded.
