Robbers shoot tipper driver in the eye at Gomoa Potsin

According to a report by Adom FM, a tipper truck driver is in critical condition after being shot in the eye by armed robbers during a brazen attack at Gomoa Potsin on the Kasoa-Winneba Highway.

The victim, who works with Nag Fairmount Construction, came under fire while carrying out his duties. The disturbing incident is part of what police describe as a rising wave of highway robberies in the area.

Confirming the development, Gomoa Dominase District Police Commander ASP Richard Ahiagbor revealed that at least four robbery cases have been recorded in the area in just one week.

“Criminals are exploiting the ongoing road construction to launch attacks on unsuspecting drivers and commuters,” ASP Ahiagbor told stakeholders during a meeting on Tuesday, June 10.

Worried residents say the situation is spiraling out of control and have called on the Central Regional Minister, MP for Gomoa East Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, and other authorities to step in urgently.

In response, ASP Ahiagbor noted that the police have already set up multiple checkpoints along the highway to curb the surge in attacks.
