Mahama pushes for stronger Ghana-UK security ties during farewell meeting with British High Commissioner

President John Dramani Mahama has underscored Ghana’s commitment to deepening its security collaboration with the United Kingdom in light of emerging threats across the sub-region.
The President made this known while receiving the outgoing British High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Harriet Thompson, at the Jubilee House as part of her farewell visit.
He praised the UK’s ongoing support in areas of intelligence and counter-terrorism, describing the collaboration as timely and invaluable.
“We appreciate the partnership we have shared in the fight against terrorism and will continue to rely on the UK for help and cooperation in intelligence gathering and training to prepare ourselves in the event of any attack,” Mahama stated.
With terrorism threats creeping closer to Ghana’s borders, Mahama emphasized the need for Ghana to remain proactive.
He lauded the UK’s involvement in bolstering Ghana’s preparedness through technical training and intelligence-sharing mechanisms.
The high-level meeting marks a continuation of Ghana’s foreign policy strategy that seeks to align with nations that can support the country’s security architecture as part of broader regional and global stability efforts
