GES releases list of 25 new private SHS for school selection

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has extended the school selection deadline to 25th June 2025 to accommodate the inclusion of 25 additional private Senior High Schools in this year’s placement process.

In an official notice signed by Prince D. Agyemang-Duah, Director of Schools and Instructions Division, the GES stated: “This extension will allow students and parents to carefully consider these new options before making their final selections.”

The newly approved private schools span across all regions, including notable institutions like Gulf College Japan in Greater Accra, Watkins Academy in Volta Region, and Golden Gate SHS in Western Region. A full list of the approved schools is available for reference.

Regional Directors of Education have been directed to immediately disseminate this information to all JHS heads. The GES emphasized that while new options have been added, all existing selection guidelines remain unchanged.

“Students are strongly advised to consult with their teachers and parents to make the best possible choice during this extended period,” the notice concluded.

Parents and guardians can contact their district education offices for further clarification on the new school options. The deadline for submission remains Wednesday, 25th June 2025.
