West Ham’s Michail Antonio returns to football six months after near-fatal crash

West Ham striker Michail Antonio has made a remarkable return to the pitch just six months after surviving a serious car accident that left his leg shattered in multiple places.

The 34-year-old was involved in a high-speed crash in his Ferrari, which resulted in severe leg injuries and required extensive surgery to insert metal supports. Many feared his career could be over.

However, Antonio defied expectations, undergoing intensive rehabilitation and strength training that saw him back in action for Jamaica during the CONCACAF Gold Cup opener against Guatemala.

Now walking unaided and lifting over 130 kg in the gym, Antonio says he’s ahead of schedule.

Meanwhile, his contract with West Ham is set to expire, and his performance in the tournament could influence his next career move, with contract talks still unresolved.
