Police seize 86 parcels of suspected Indian hemp in intelligence-led bust

The Anti-Robbery Unit of the Kete-Krachi Divisional Police Command has arrested two individuals for possessing substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

The suspects—John Dzeble, 34, and Adzobi Mesiwotso, 24—were apprehended on Saturday, June 15, 2025, during an intelligence-led operation. Police intercepted an Opel Astra vehicle with registration number GT 6430-13, driven by Dzeble with Mesiwotso on board.

A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered 86 compressed parcels of suspected Indian hemp. The parcels had been carefully concealed in various hidden compartments of the car, including the engine bay, doors, and boot.

In addition to the suspected drugs, officers also retrieved a digital measuring scale and a roll of masking tape, believed to have been used in the packaging of the substances.

The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations.

The Oti Regional Police Command has commended the swift and professional efforts of the personnel involved and reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and related criminal activities in the region.
