Four hours isn’t enough to make it– Zoomlion’s Adwoa Osei tells sweepers

Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs at Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Emma Adwoa Appiaa Osei-Duah, has encouraged beneficiaries of the nation’s sanitation program not to solely rely on the four-hour sanitation jobs but to explore additional income-generating ventures.
She highlighted that many women, especially market traders, choose to engage in early morning sweeping duties as a form of patriotic contribution and personal fulfillment before opening their shops.
“We as females have been trained to sweep and we want to do this. We love the party then. So we want to join,” she shared on TV3’s New Day program monitored by MyNewsGh.
“They do that quickly and then they go and open their shop.”
She stressed the importance of financial independence and encouraged young people to emulate those abroad who juggle multiple jobs to survive.
“We tell them that you cannot rely on this four hours and make it. When you do this, move on, do something else,” she advised.
“Elsewhere, we know our brothers and sisters who have travelled. One may be doing two or three jobs. If you are lucky and your job doesn’t occupy all your hours in the day, why won’t you do more?”
Her comments form part of a broader message from Zoomlion aimed at promoting a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset among the youth engaged in sanitation-related initiatives.
