Top-to-bottom approach must be embraced to help galvanize and propel NPP’s reorganization efforts—Ahiagbah

Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah has backed the party’s decision to elect its flagbearer before other executives are elected.
According to him, albeit new, the top-to-bottom approach will help galvanize and propel the party’s reorganization efforts to capture power in 2028.
Ahiagbah holds the view that it behoves on party members to embrace the decision by the Council and fulfil their duties to the political party.
Making this position known in a post shared via social media, he said “The National Council’s decision to hold the presidential primaries before reorganizing the party structures is new and understandably concerning to some.
Despite the concerns, it is clear that an early selection of a flagbearer will help galvanize and propel the party’s reorganization efforts to recapture power in 2028. I believe these concerns will fade if we embrace the Council’s decision and fulfill our duties as dedicated and loyal party members. The New Patriotic Party stands to benefit in the end.. Together, we will succeed!”.
The New Patriotic Party will go to the polls on January 31, 2026 to elect a flagbearer.
The decision was announced at NEC meeting that took place in Accra early this and was chaired by Vice Chairman Butey, who sat in for the National Chairman of the party, Stephen Ntim, who is indisposed and has asked to step aside from party responsibilities.
