Mixed weather expected today with rain, sunshine and mist in various regions

The Ghana Meteorological Agency has forecasted a blend of cloudy, sunny, and rainy conditions across the country today, June 20, 2025, with possible thunderstorms expected in several regions.

According to the 24-hour forecast, partly cloudy skies will dominate the morning hours across most parts of the country. Mist and fog patches are also expected to form, particularly over hilly and forested areas. However, mostly cloudy conditions will persist along the coast and parts of the north, with chances of isolated thunderstorms or rainfall.

As the day progresses, the southern half of the country—comprising the coastal, middle, and transitional belts—is expected to experience variably cloudy conditions, accompanied by thunderstorms or rain showers, especially in the afternoon and evening.

Residents in cities such as Accra, Cape Coast, Kasoa, and Axim are likely to see thunderstorms during the day, with afternoon temperatures ranging between 30°C and 31°C. Evening temperatures in these areas will cool slightly to around 26°C.

The middle sector, including towns like Koforidua, Ho, and Akim Oda, will also see similar weather, with early morning mist giving way to possible thunderstorms by afternoon.

Meanwhile, the northern half of the country is expected to experience generally sunny weather with intermittent cloud cover. However, a few areas such as Bolgatanga, Wa, and Nalerigu could experience isolated thunderstorms or rain later in the day. Afternoon temperatures in the north will peak between 33°C and 34°C.

The Ghana Meteorological Agency advises the public, especially those in thunderstorm-prone areas, to take necessary precautions and stay updated with regular weather alerts.
