Pastors created WhatsApp platforms to stop a Muslim from becoming president– Stephen Amoah

Dr. Stephen Amoah, has accused some Christian leaders of covert political scheming, revealing that certain pastors created WhatsApp platforms ahead of elections to influence outcomes.
“Some pastors had actually set up WhatsApp platforms before the election. We all know—why are we lying to ourselves?” the former Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso told TESCON students in Kumasi.
His comments, which have since stirred public debate, pointed to what he described as deep-rooted hypocrisy within some religious circles, where spiritual leaders covertly engage in political bias while preaching neutrality from the pulpit.
While acknowledging his personal disagreement with such actions, Dr. Amoah maintained that these practices are not hearsay but facts Ghanaians need to confront.
“Even though I disagree with them, it was a fact,” he emphasized.
He extended the conversation beyond the Christian community, arguing that religious bias in politics is not limited to any one faith.
In a broader reflection, he pointed to global patterns where Muslim-populated areas often coincide with natural resource wealth, challenging stereotypes and calling for deeper respect for Islam.
