We’re committed to nurturing young universities – Haruna Iddrisu

The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced a GH¢40 million seed funding package for four emerging public universities across the country.

This move, according to the Minister, reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening tertiary education and aligning it with national development goals.

Speaking as the special guest of honour at the 5th Congregation of the C.K. Tedem University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Navrongo on Saturday, Haruna Iddrisu emphasized the importance of investing in young universities.

“This government is fully committed to nurturing our young public universities, ensuring they have the necessary resources to develop and provide quality education that meets the demands of our evolving economy,” he said.

“This seed funding is a testament to that commitment.”

The beneficiary institutions include:

  • C.K. Tedem University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) in Navrongo
  • University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in Sunyani
  • University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ho
  • S.D. Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SD-UBIDS) in Wa

Haruna Iddrisu underscored that the GH¢40 million will support infrastructure development, research, and teaching improvements across the institutions.
