AI is making students lazy- MTN Corporate Communications Head

The Head of Corporate Communications at MTN Ghana, Madam Georgina Asare Fiagbenu has admonished the negative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, saying, it has students lazy and reluctant to learn.
“The introduction of AI has made alot of students lazy to learn since most of the students rely on AI”, she added.
Madam Asare Fiagbenu who was the guest speaker at the 2025 National Youth Mentorship Summit and Awards at the University of Cape Coast(UCC) charged the students to learn hard and not solely depend on AI.
“I known that for students it’s an easy thing to just go and tap ChatGTP, grammarly and other apps for their work. Am saying all these because the world looks so easy”, She observed.
“It’s really upsetting to see students who are supposed to use their own brains to solve critical problems, using AI to do that for them without even considering reviewing the answers”, Madam Asare Fiagbenu disclosed.
Madam Asare Fiagbenu charged the students to take the digital and technology skills opportunities by MTN seriously and learn better skills that will improve their standard of living and their education as well.
“What you know is not the certificate you have so you may have the certificate that says that you have read the psychology but you may get a job that will require some skills and you keep wondering what you know.
“The skill you are building today is what you know, the knowledge can be acquired by anybody because everybody can just take a book and read”, Madam Asare Fiagbenu added.
She again charged them to embrace communication, and learn how to communicate with people around them and even in their communities, class, work place among others.
This, she explained would give them opportunities to excel in their future career.
“Stretch your imagination and your skills. Think about what you can do with the skills you built”, Madam Asare Fiagbenu said.
