GMet forecasts cloudy skies and evening thunderstorms across Ghana today

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has forecast variable cloud conditions across much of the country today, with mist and fog patches expected over some coastal and forest areas during the early morning hours.

According to the 24-hour forecast issued by GMet and valid from 6:00 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2025, light to moderate rainfall is expected in some parts of the extreme north and inland coastal zones during the morning. From the afternoon into the evening hours, isolated thunderstorms are likely in parts of middle, transitional, and northern Ghana.

Major urban centres such as Accra, Kasoa, Takoradi, and Cape Coast will experience cloudy or misty conditions in the morning, with a chance of rain later in the day. Accra, for instance, will see partly cloudy skies in the morning with a 30% chance of rain in the afternoon, and temperatures peaking around 32°C.

Cities in the middle and transitional belts—such as Kumasi, Koforidua, Sunyani, and Techiman—will experience mist or partly cloudy conditions in the morning, with sunny intervals and thunderstorms expected by late afternoon or evening. Temperatures in these areas are expected to range between 31°C and 33°C.

In northern Ghana, places like Tamale, Yendi, and Bole will also experience partly cloudy conditions and sunny intervals during the day, followed by possible thunderstorms in the evening. Bolgatanga and Wa are forecast to receive thunderstorms during the day, with cloud cover prevailing in the evening.

GMet’s forecast emphasizes a general pattern of shifting weather throughout the day, with morning calm giving way to scattered rain and storm activity later, particularly in central and northern regions.

Residents are advised to stay informed through official channels, especially in areas likely to experience thunderstorms, and take necessary precautions.
