Judiciary is too independent to be used by NDC

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team, Theophilus Dzimegah Jnr., Esq., has strongly dismissed claims that the NDC is behind the ongoing process seeking the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.

Speaking during an interview with Lily Mohammed on GHOne TV’s GHToday, Dzimegah Jnr. described such speculations as unfounded and politically mischievous.

“There has been silence from the Association of Judges and Magistrates, silence from the judicial staff… So that should tell us something else. It has nothing [to do with the NDC],” he stated.

Addressing the perception that the alleged move against the Chief Justice is a politically motivated scheme by the opposition party, he made it clear that the judiciary is far too independent and well-informed to allow itself to be used for such purposes.

“You think that the CJ is to be removed, and other justices of the Supreme Court will take this lightly and say, ‘Hey, this is the whims and caprices of the NDC, so let us just join the NDC to remove her’? No,” he emphasized.

Dzimegah Jnr. reiterated that the NDC is focused on more pressing national issues and has no desire to interfere with judicial processes or undermine the independence of the judiciary.
