Our economic diplomacy is working – Ablakwa

Ghana’s push for economic transformation through strategic diplomacy is yielding promising outcomes, according to Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
In a post on his official Facebook page, the legislator revealed that his recent diplomatic mission to China included discussions with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. Ltd. (GAC), one of the world’s leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers.
The talks, he said, ended with the company expressing “favorable consideration” to establish an EV manufacturing plant in Ghana.
“Our vigorous pursuit of economic diplomacy is producing fantastic results,” Ablakwa noted. “On my recent visit to China, GAC — a leading electric vehicle manufacturer — agreed to give favorable consideration of Ghana for the establishment of an EV manufacturing plant.”
Ablakwa emphasized the significance of this potential partnership, highlighting China’s leadership in the global EV space.
“China is the global leader in EV manufacturing, with 7 of the 10 leading EV brands located in China. Experts say China is 10 years ahead of the world with its groundbreaking EV technology,” he added.
The MP further stated that Ghana is strategically positioning itself to take advantage of its recent lithium discovery and economic rebound by attracting such high-level investments, especially in the green technology sector.
“Ghana is poised to forge strategic partnerships that leverage our lithium discovery and economic recovery for transformation and massive job creation,” he wrote.
Expressing gratitude, Ablakwa praised the GAC board and management for their hospitality and their interest in Ghana.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the country’s foreign relations deliver concrete benefits for citizens.
“Through our renewed focus on economic diplomacy, we shall ensure our foreign relations make a meaningful impact in the lives of the people we serve.”
