Change Adu Lodge for suspended Chief Justice if it intimidates her—Ansa Asare

Former Director of the Ghana School of Law, Kwaku Ansa-Asare has backed the suspended Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo’s call on the committee investigating her removal process to change the venue if it’s true that it evokes some memory.

In the course of the week, the suspended chief justice addressed the nation on the ongoing process to remove her.

She described the process as political and insisted that she would not resign to make the work of the people who want her out of the way easy.

One thing she mentioned was the venue of the committee’s sittings, Adu Lodge, which she indicated was selected to cause her pain and intimidate her, as her late uncle was killed there.

“The work of the committee is being conducted in a cordoned high-security zone on Castle Drive, Osu, where all Article 146 proceedings since 1993 have been held in facilities of the Judicial Service. It is hard not to conclude that the choice of venue, against the backdrop of secrecy of proceedings, is intended to intimidate me and prevent any citizen of Ghana from knowing how the process is being conducted,” she declared.

But speaking on Accra-based TV3, Ansa Asare urged the committee to change the venue if their investigation proves the venue does not constitute a fair hearing.

He cited Article 19 to back his call for the suspended Chief Justice to be given a fair hearing by changing the venue for the process of removing the suspended Chief Justice.
