Remember innocent voters killed in Techiman too and bring their murderers to book—Franklin Cudjoe

President of policy think tank IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, is of the view that as Ghana celebrates the murder of some judges on Martyrs Day, voters who were killed in Techiman during the 2020 elections must also be remembered.
According to him, such state-sponsored killing must not be forgotten, just as the murder of some judges on June 30 has not been forgotten all these years.
He, therefore, called for a thorough investigation into all state-sponsored killings in the country and bring all the perpetrators to book.
In a post shared via social media sighted by MyNewsGh.com, Franklin Cudjoe said, “Matyr’s Day ( the killing of Judges ), Techiman Killing of innocent voters and all other state-sponsored killings must forever be condemned & murderers brought to book“.
It will be remembered that during the 2020 elections, some voters lost their lives in Techiman South during the collation of the parliamentary votes.
Although the Ghana Police Service has given an indication that they are investigating the matter, there is no information on the progress of the investigation.
The President, after winning the 2025 election, is said to have ordered for investigation into the killings.
A statement signed by the Executive Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, and addressed to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) indicated that these incidents have left a lasting mark on the nation’s democratic process.
The statement underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring justice for the victims and their families, demanding swift and transparent action.
As part of the investigation, the Presidency proposed measures, including the formation of a dedicated task force within the CID to focus solely on these cases.
