24-Hour Economy is a living, flexible pogramme

Special Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy Initiative, Goosie Tanoh, has described the newly launched policy as a dynamic, adaptive programme designed to evolve with time and meet the ever-changing needs of Ghana’s economy and society.

Speaking at the official launch of the 24-Hour Economy on Wednesday, July 2, Tanoh emphasized the government’s openness to feedback and willingness to learn as implementation unfolds across sectors.

He acknowledged that while the policy has ambitious goals, it is structured to be responsive to new developments, realities, and criticisms.

“We at the secretariat are confident that we will continue to receive constructive criticism and suggestions for further improvement. Criticism is always welcome,” he said.

Tanoh explained that the policy is “rooted in science and firm social democratic principles,” and yet “flexible enough to respond tactically to a changing environment.”

According to him, the real strength of the programme lies in its capacity to adapt, refine, and expand as lessons are learned on the ground.

“We will learn many lessons along the way and make numerous adjustments. This is the only way a programme can transform our society in the short, medium, and long term,” Tanoh stressed.

He also lauded President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership, describing him as a steadfast believer in empowering local enterprise and driving sustainable national transformation.

“We can say without a doubt that our President is a true champion of responsible entrepreneurship and national transformation.”We, as a country, we, as a people, have what it takes to succeed,” Tanoh noted.

The 24-Hour Economy, which is one of the flagship initiatives of the current administration, seeks to boost productivity, create jobs, and foster innovation by encouraging round-the-clock economic activity in selected sectors.
