Effutu Assembly moves to resolve dispute over public toilet seizure

The Effutu Municipal Assembly has responded to recent tensions involving some residents and Assembly Members over the unlawful seizure of public toilet facilities.

The Assembly described the actions, which occurred on June 30 and July 1, as a violation of municipal procedures and a threat to local governance and public sanitation.

In a statement released today, the Assembly expressed deep concern about the situation and confirmed that it is working with law enforcement agencies and key stakeholders to address the matter in accordance with Ghanaian law.

The impasse has already disrupted official business, with Assembly Members boycotting a scheduled Executive Committee Meeting meant to consider crucial development reports.

The Assembly warned that the standoff risks delaying essential projects, weakening oversight structures, and undermining public confidence in the municipality’s ability to govern impartially.

It urged all parties involved to return to dialogue, respect due process, and support a swift, lawful resolution.

The Assembly reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and collaborative development across Effutu.
