We’re contesting, not boycotting – NPP’s Fuseini on Ablekuma rerun

Former Member of Parliament for Okaikoi North, Issah Fuseini, has confirmed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will fully participate in the Electoral Commission’s (EC) upcoming parliamentary rerun in the Ablekuma North Constituency, despite initial pushback from the party’s leadership.
Fuseini dismissed speculation that the NPP might boycott the process.
“And for the NDC to think that we will probably boycott it, no, it is not like us. We’ll not boycott this election [Ablekuma North],” he stated on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday, July 5.
Fuseini’s assurance comes just days after the NPP publicly rejected the EC’s decision to rerun elections in 19 polling stations within the constituency.
The Deputy General Secretary of the party, Haruna Mohammed, expressed disappointment with the EC’s move, insisting that no consensus had been reached during the earlier stakeholder engagements.
“Our representatives were at the meeting, and I have to put it on record that there was no such agreement with the EC,” Haruna said in an interview on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News.
“That is very evident in the release of the EC itself—that the political parties did not agree.”
