NLA Good Causes Foundation Commissions a 3-Unit Classroom Block in Akanteng.

The NLA Good Causes Foundation has commissioned a three-unit classroom block constructed for the Akanteng Methodist Primary and Junior High School in the Eastern Region.
 The facility includes a headmistress’s office, a staff standard room, a kitchen, a storeroom, eight washrooms, a mechanized borehole, and a Polytank.
 The National Coordinator of the NLA Good Causes Foundation, Mr. Kadiri Abdul Rauf Issifu, commissioned the project on behalf of the Director-General of NLA, Mr. Mohammed Abdul Salam.  He was joined by the Chief of Akanteng, Barima Appiah Darkwa III, the MP for Lower West Akim, Hon. Owen Kwame Frimpong, the Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Hon. Paulina Akabila, some local authorities and education officials.              Â
Mr. Issifu stated that this project was undertaken under the Education Pillar of the Good Causes Foundation. The Education pillar focuses on providing educational support to brilliant but financially disadvantaged students and assisting educational institutions with the necessary logistics and resources. The Foundation also supports programs and projects that align with its objectives.

He also outlined the Foundation’s work, highlighting its impact in education, which focuses on providing educational support to brilliant but financially disadvantaged students and assisting educational institutions with the necessary logistics. In educating them about responsible gaming, Mr. Issifu encouraged the students to avoid gaming while highlighting the dangers of mobile lottery scams.
In her remarks, Headmistress of the Akanteng Methodist Primary and Junior High School, Madam Gifty B. Sintim, explained how the school’s deteriorating structure led to a joint appeal to the NLA through the former MP, Hon. Appiatu Ankrah. The current Member of Parliament for Lower West Akim, Hon. Owen Kwame Frimpong, completed the effort and further supported the school with new furniture.
The Chief of Akanteng expressed his appreciation to the NLA Good Causes Foundation and all stakeholders involved, pledging to ensure proper maintenance of the new facility. He also highlighted the importance of such projects in supporting development in the area, emphasizing the significant impact the new facility will have on the community.
The NLA Good Causes Foundation is the Authority’s charity arm, spearheading its corporate social responsibility. The Foundation operates on four pillars: Health, Education, Youth and Sports Development, and Arts and Culture.
The NLA Good Causes Foundation is hinged on Section 2(3) of the National Lotto Act. This section mandates the NLA to conduct, as part of the operation of the National Lotto, a lottery to provide care and protection for individuals who are physically or mentally afflicted, the needy, the aged, orphans, and destitute children. The proceeds from this lottery fund the Foundation’s activities, including the three-unit classroom block in Akanteng.
