Sammi Awuku recounts last moments with late AKWATIA MP

Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku has recounted his last moments with the late Akwatia MP, Ernest Kumi.

In a post shared via social media, he mentioned that he had spoken to the late MP some on Friday to inform him of his visit to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who was enquiring about his court cases.

To him, the late Member of Parliament was in high spirit and full of life only for him to be reported dead.

To Awuku, 4th July 2025 will be etched in his memory forever as it marks the final days of Ernest Kumi on earth.

His tribute shared via social media read “Life is a breath,a moment here, and the next, gone.
How fragile this journey is.

I’m still in shock. Friday, 4th July, 2025 will forever be etched in my memory.
Just moments before, the former Vice President, DMB had asked me to check on you and to follow up on the conversation you both had concerning your many legal battles which he wanted an update and to catch up on a few things.

I called, and you said, “I’m on my way to him so bro tell him, which I did… .”

You sounded full of life. You even teased me like always…..
“Commander!” Never knew this was a final goodbye call bro.

You sit directly behind me in Parliament.
Now, turning to watch that empty seat is a sight I will never get used to.
That chair held your presence.
It shared our laughter, quiet exchanges, and memories only true colleagues and friends understand.
Now I turn, and you will no longer be there to catch up on issues and to share moments.
Now, I find myself grasping for words, struggling to accept a truth my heart refuses to hold.

Death has a way of showing up uninvited, tearing through the ordinary with silence and finality.
It doesn’t wait for goodbyes. It doesn’t care for schedules or promises.

You were a brother, friend, a fighter and a force.
To think that your journey ends here feels cruel and unreal.
But maybe that’s the mystery of life, beautiful, unpredictable, and fleeting.

Rest well, my Akwatia Star Boy !
Your memory lives on in the hearts that carry your light”.
