Ngleshie Amanfro Momo vendor shot dead in suspected robbery attack

A mobile money vendor, 21-year-old Desmond Adzah, was shot and killed by unknown gunmen at Quarters Junction in Ngleshie Amanfro on the evening of Wednesday, July 9.

Desmond was reportedly ambushed while returning home from his shop around 7:00 p.m. He was rushed to the Ngleshie Amanfro Polyclinic but died shortly after.

Eyewitness Ruben Kumor, who had just interacted with Desmond before the incident, said, “I asked to withdraw GHC150, but he told me he was low on cash. Minutes later, I heard a gunshot. Someone ran up to tell me Desmond had been shot.”

Desmond’s sister, Erica Adzah, suspects the attack wasn’t random.

“From what we’re hearing, he may have been followed by people he knew.

“Some believe the suspects were even his friends. After taking his bag, they shot him because he recognized them,” she explained.

She added that Desmond tried to seek help at their family house, but relatives were unable to assist due to ongoing gunfire.

“This needs serious investigation. These motorcycle robberies are getting out of hand. Government must act,” she urged.

Residents are demanding improved night patrols and swift police action, with many pointing out the lack of visible security despite a nearby station.
