The Police lied; I never intervened for illegal miners

President of the Small Scale Miners Association Michael Kwadwo Peprah has denied claims by the police that he intervened in the arrest of illegal miners at the Desiri Forest.
Michael Kwadwo Peprah has been arrested by the IGP’s Special Anti-Galamsey team for attempting to intervene after the team arrested some illegal miners.
But in a post on social media, he indicated that the taskforce did not make any such arrest and it’s shocking that reports suggest he intervened on people’s behalf.
He explained that there have been reports of unauthorized seizures with individuals impersonating Security Agents so he was at the place to verify the veracity of the security officials only to be arrested over claims that he was intervening on behalf of illegal miners.
His post registering his displeasure via social media read indicated that no arrests were made per information available to him.
Therefore the police can’t say he was arrested for intervening.
“You failed to make any arrests, so for whom was I intervening? There have been widespread reports of unauthorized seizures, with individuals impersonating Security agents to extort money from miners. We notified the Lands and Natural Ministry, and the Communication Director, Mawusi, recommended that we verify the legitimacy of operations. My mistake was simply asking and introducing myself. How can I intervene when no arrests were made?so why the arrest and publication @highlightJoyNewsGHOne TVUTV Ghanane TVUTV Ghana”.
