We’re ready for Ablekuma North rerun

The Electoral Commission (EC) has assured the public and political stakeholders of a fair and transparent rerun of the parliamentary election in the Ablekuma North constituency, scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2025.

Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, July 10, Deputy Chairperson of the EC, Dr. Bossman Asare, reiterated the Commission’s determination to bring finality to the electoral process in the constituency.

“On our part as the electoral management body, we are desirous of bringing the election in the Ablekuma North constituency to a conclusion and to ensure that the constituents have a representative in Parliament,” Dr. Asare stated. “We assure the public and the political parties that, as always, we will live by our motto and ensure that the rerun is fair, transparent, and credible.”

He added that the Commission has taken deliberate steps to resolve outstanding issues surrounding the collation process from the December 2024 election, which led to the annulment of results in 19 polling stations.

“We have thus provided a path to complete the collation process while ensuring that the residents of Ablekuma North have a representative in Parliament,” he noted.

Dr. Asare concluded by wishing both contesting candidates the best in the rerun: “We wish the two candidates the best of luck at the polls tomorrow, Friday, July 11.”

The rerun follows months of legal and political wrangling over the disputed parliamentary results, with the EC moving to restore electoral integrity in the affected constituency.
