Police nab robbers who left phone behind

A costly mistake by two machete-wielding robbers led to their arrest after one of them dropped a mobile phone at the scene of the crime in Alignment, a suburb of Kwadaso Estate in the Ashanti Region.
According to the Suntreso District Police Command, the suspects, identified as 22-year-old Issah Abdul and 20-year-old Abdul Rahman, were arrested at Sofoline following a swift police operation.
The robbers, who fled on an unregistered blue motorbike after snatching a handbag containing a Samsung phone valued at GH¢2,000 and other personal items, unknowingly left behind a Samsung mobile phone belonging to one of them.
The victim discovered the phone at the scene and handed it over to police, a move that became the breakthrough in tracing the suspects.
Following their arrest, police conducted a search and recovered five mobile phones and GH¢1,690 from the suspects.
A police statement confirmed that the two admitted to the crime during interrogation and subsequently led officers to the spot where they had hidden the machete used in the robbery.
