A statement from the police said the officer has been withdrawn from the ongoing exercise in line with disciplinary procedures.

He was said to have been monitoring the election when the police officer decided to sack him from the spot he was occupying.
The journalist explained to him the reason for his presence there, but that infuriated the police, who dished out a slap.
