I’m just here to solidify my victory – Akua Afriyie declares

As polls officially closed at exactly 5:00 p.m. today in the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun, NPP parliamentary candidate Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie reaffirmed her determination to secure victory and uphold electoral accountability.

“We neither sleep nor slumber,” she declared to journalists, as a crowd of enthusiastic supporters followed closely, singing her praises.

Afriyie’s remarks came against the backdrop of a politically tense atmosphere surrounding the rerun.

The Electoral Commission called for the new vote after citing irregularities at several polling stations during the December 7, 2024, general elections.

While the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership officially boycotted the rerun, Afriyie pressed forward, insisting she had already earned a decisive lead and was only returning to “solidify” her mandate.

Despite calling the rerun “unnecessary,” she voiced strong confidence in the result.

“The outcome of the election will be my victory,” she assured.
