Defence Minister calls for calm and restraint in Bawku

Defence Minister, Dr Omane Boamah has called for calm in Bawku in the Upper East Region.

The area, which is now very volatile, experienced some military brutalities and attacks from unknown gunmen on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

There was the destruction of the statue of the Zugran among other violent attacks.

In a post shared via social media, the Minister called for calm in the area.

He indicated that he has commissioned an investigation into what happened and will take swift action based on recommendations from the investigation.

Dr Omane Boamah’s post read, “Another Call for Restraint in Bawku as Investigations Continue.

We are, once again, urging restraint and calm in Bawku regarding the latest developments as of yesterday.

I have directed thorough investigations into the recent matter and promised to take swift action based on recommendations.

Once again, let us ensure restraint!”
