Claims that Akufo-Addo is against NPP’s 19th July National Delegates Conference false—Nii Teiko Tagoe

A former flagstaffer under the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration, Charles Teiko Tagoe, has debunked claims that the former president of Ghana is against the New Patriotic Party’s date for the National Delegates Conference.

According to him, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has not written any letter to the party’s executives registering his displeasure against the date and the early primaries for the party to choose a presidential candidate.

In a post shared via social media, he indicated that the former president respects the party’s processes and has not registered any form of disagreement with the party’s decision.

However, the former president, who is currently out of the country, will not be in attendance at the National Delegates Conference, which is scheduled for July 19, 2025.

Sharing this via social media Nii Teiko Tagoe said”Former President Akufo-Addo has written no letter to the New Patriotic Party about any dates for either National Delegates Conference or National Congress to elect the next Flagbearer. He has also not said to any person that he wants either July 19, 2025 date for National Delegates Conference or January 31, 2026 date for presidential primaries to be postponed. He respects the Party order.

Those who have issues with the said dates know the processes and what to do and where they should have their issues addressed. He intends to send his goodwill. Message to be read on Jul 19. He wil not be in Ghana. He was not there for the last National Council meeting and won’t be there for Jul 19. Those two dates were fixed in his absence. He has not commented about the dates and does not intend to do so”.
