Unauthorized Guard Duties Will Attract Severe Consequences

Defence Minister, Dr Omane Boamah, has issued a barrage of stern warnings to military personnel who are mostly seen protecting civilians.

According to him, the military has decided to withdraw protection for civilians who are not qualified to be provided with military protection.

These persons, according to him, include public officials, former ministers, businessmen, and women, among others.

Personnel found to flout the rules will be made to face the law.

Making this known in a post shared via social media, the Minister said “As part of our #Reset agenda to restore discipline and accountability, we’ve withdrawn military protection for civilians (including public officials, former ministers, businessmen, and women, among others) who are not entitled to it.

This decision aims to STOP the misuse of military personnel for personal gain.

Therefore, military personnel found providing unauthorized guard duties; and any other unauthorized duties will face far-reaching consequences”.
