Mahama scraps fuel allowances for political appointees

President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has cut fuel allowances to all political appointees.

A statement from the presidency said that the decision taken by the president is to help cut costs and help channel public funds into priority areas.

The statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu said the president believes that leadership must also bear part of the sacrifices it’s calling on the people to make.

The president, as part of cost-cutting measures, has reduced the number of ministers and stopped satellite TV subscriptions for offices at the presidency and government facilities.
