Sulley Sambian charges TESCON to rise for 2028 victory

Lawyer Sulley Sambian, North East Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former CEO of the Northern Development Authority has admonished members of the student wing of the party, TESCON at Bagabaga Teacher Training College in the Northern Region to reposition themselves as a vital force in securing victory for the NPP in the 2028 general elections.

Addressing the gathering as the special guest of honour while welcoming freshmen and women, Lawyer Sambian expressed his deep excitement and nostalgia, recalling his own student activism days nearly 25 years ago.

He described the sight of TESCON members united in purpose as a powerful reminder of the party’s roots and future potential.

“We are gathered this morning not only to welcome freshmen who have had the good fortune and privilege of gaining admission into this reputable tertiary institution, but to build capacity and to mobilize a generation that must rise to the bold call for victory for the NPP in 2028,” he stated.

Sambian tackled the skepticism around building youth capacity following the party’s recent electoral defeat. He reaffirmed that investing in the intellectual and leadership growth of the youth remains central to the NPP’s philosophy.

“The NPP of yesterday, the NPP of today and the NPP of tomorrow believes that building capacity or shaping the minds of the youth is the foundation of national transformation. Capacity building, therefore, is not a luxury but a responsibility,” he emphasized.

Positioning TESCON as more than just a campus group, Sambian described it as “the soul of the party’s future,” encouraging members to use their time on campus as a launchpad into grassroots mobilization, policy engagement, and national leadership.

“Tescon remains the intellectual fire power within the NPP. We are not thugs, we are thinkers; we are not voters, we are visionaries; we are not just followers, we are the future leaders,” he told the students.

He challenged the youth to lead boldly in politics and public discourse, noting that change begins not with banners or slogans but with a renewed mindset and authentic dedication to party values.

“Re-energizing our party does not start with big banners and posters; it starts with renewing our mindsets, restructuring our activities and recommitting to party ideals,” he said.

Sambian called on TESCON to stop being reactive and become innovators, defining rather than defending the NPP’s future.

He ended with a rousing call to action: “Let us rise and say to the world: the youth of the NPP are ready; ready to defend democracy; ready to fight for development. Ready to win 2028 elections not with insults but with the truth.”
