Hawa Koomson was left alone during Ablekuma North rerun chaos – NPP’s Oppong

Lawyer George Oppong, a member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communications team, has blamed the party’s internal weaknesses for its defeat in the Ablekuma North constituency election held on Friday, July 11.

According to him, the party failed to adequately support Hon. Hawa Koomson, the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, during the by-election.

“Hawa Koomson was left on her own without any support,” he lamented on Wontumi’s morning show, insisting she did not carry any harmful substances, contrary to some claims in the public domain.

He went further to allege that former President John Dramani Mahama was behind a group that physically assaulted Hawa Koomson and “even commended them afterward.”

Lawyer Oppong also expressed concern over the low voter turnout, attributing it to the party’s poor mobilization efforts.

He criticized the NPP’s leadership for what he described as a lack of preparation and seriousness in the run-up to the election.

“We must take full responsibility for the loss,” he stated, noting that the outcome was a result of collective failure.
