NPP’s Delegates conference to be held despite opposition

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Delegates Conference will take place on July 19, 2025, as planned.

This was confirmed by the chairman of the planning committee, Joe Osei Owusu, after the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) emergency meeting on July 14, 2025.

The Delegates Conference will be held under the theme “Rebuilding Together With Our Values”.

Addressing the media on the development, Joe Osei Owusu disclosed that there was a petition for the conference to be postponed, but the party’s NEC decided to go ahead with the programme because of the preparations done and commitments made.

“There was a petition that the date for the conference should be changed. Our NEC, after considering it, decided that we should continue. Given the preparation and commitments that we have made, the conference will proceed as announced,” Mr. Osei-Owusu stated.

The party intends to use the delegates’ conference to make major constitutional reforms.

The delegates will use the opportunity to deliberate on proposed amendments from the Mike Ocquaye committee that investigated into why the political party lost the 2024 elections.

Additionally, a long-standing proposal from the party’s 2019 Delegates Conference in Kumasi, which was approved in principle but not formally adopted, is also set for final consideration and formal adoption during this conference.
