We’re rethinking how we serve Ghanaians – Mahama tells London mayor

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to bold reforms aimed at reshaping the country’s governance and economy, with a strong emphasis on innovation, youth empowerment, and improved infrastructure.
Speaking during a courtesy call by the Mayor of London, Sir Sadiq Khan, on Thursday, President Mahama outlined Ghana’s ongoing efforts to boost productivity and deepen international trade and investment partnerships.
“We are striving to cultivate a new sense of thinking, a fresh approach to doing things, and to ensure that we effectively serve the people who elected us to lead,” he said.
President Mahama highlighted one of the key initiatives of his administration—the 24-Hour Economy policy—which he described as a timely response to Ghana’s rapid urbanisation and rising youth population.
“We’ve launched a 24-Hour Economy initiative to harness Ghana’s vibrant youthful population and address the challenges of rapid urbanisation by promoting continuous economic activity and opportunities,” he explained.
The President also praised London’s transport network as a model of reliability, noting that Ghana seeks to replicate such efficiency in its own systems.
“For a city like London, the efficiency of your transport system, even with perceived challenges, is truly remarkable. We aspire to develop similar reliable systems where punctuality is the norm for our citizens,” Mahama added.
