Your decisions today should help choose a credible leader who doesn’t lie

General Secretary for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fiifi Kwetey, has indicated that the government wants an opposition that is doing well.

He explains that the opposition should not be one that wallows in mediocrity in order to put the government on its toes.

Fiifi Kwetey made this known when he spoke to the media after the general meeting of the tertiary students’ Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), TEIN, at the University of Ghana on July 18, 2025.

“We wish them well. Our hope is that NDC should continue to have an opponent that is doing well in order to bring the best from us. We don’t want an opponent that will continue to wallow in mediocrity. We don’t want an opponent that will put up candidates that are known for lies, like candidate Bawumia, who does not have any credibility,” he said.

He noted that the party should try their best to look for a candidate who can give the government a better opposition

“They should try because I’m hearing the names and I don’t really find credibility in any of them. But I’m hoping that they should find one because there are good men in there. Let them have a system that allows for real true men who tell the truth to emerge. I look forward to a competition between the NPP and the NDC that will have credible men on both sides. Men who will help the country, not pretenders,” he explained.
