Ghana, how is this even ok? Why air my movie without permission? – Mercy Johnson fumes

Celebrated Nigerian actress Mercy Johnson has voiced her frustration after discovering that her new movie, The FirstBorn, was broadcast without her permission.
The actress was visibly upset after a fan alerted her to footage of the film being aired on Ghana’s Blazing TV, a station under the MultiTV platform.
This incident adds to a growing list of concerns raised by international filmmakers regarding the unauthorized airing of their works by some Ghanaian television stations. In recent times, movies by Ruth Kadiri and even Hollywood’s Tyler Perry have also been broadcast without approval, further fueling accusations of rampant copyright infringement in the country.
Reacting to the situation—monitored by MyNewsGh.com—Mercy Johnson Okojie took to social media to vent her anger and disbelief.
“Ghana. Blazing TV. How is this even ok? Blazing TV in Ghana is showing my movie, THE FIRSTBORN, on their TV without my consent. How does this even make sense? How?” she wrote.
Her outburst adds urgency to the calls for Ghanaian broadcasters to respect intellectual property rights and adhere to proper licensing procedures.
