Tribalism has no place in the NPP – Bawumia warns

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has issued a strong call to action for members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to uphold unity and reject divisive tendencies such as tribalism and religious bigotry, which he says threaten the very foundation of the party.

The 2024 presidenial candidate for the NPP reflected on the party’s rich legacy of inclusiveness and diversity, urging members to preserve it as they work toward rebuilding and repositioning the party for the future while speaking at the NPP’s National Annual Delegates Conference in Accra.

“It is clear therefore that the bonds of unity in diversity has been our lifeblood and our foundation,” he stated.

“Now more than ever we must refresh them and desist from any language, character or actions that divide us.”

As the party recovers from its 2024 electoral loss and focuses on internal restructuring, Dr. Bawumia stressed the importance of presenting a united front to win back the trust of the Ghanaian people.

“With unity and consistency we can regain the trust of Ghanaians. If we are fractured and at each other’s throats, none of us can cross over and lead us to fulfil this party’s purpose,” he warned.

Dr. Bawumia didn’t mince words when addressing the dangers of tribal and religious discrimination within party ranks.

“Tribalism and religious bigotry pose an existential threat and should have no place in the New Patriotic Party,” he emphasized.
