NCSA boss suspended over use of soldier as bodyguard

Divine Selasi Agbeti, Director-General of the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), has been handed a two-week suspension following allegations that he used a uniformed military officer as his personal bodyguard without proper authorization.

The suspension, which took effect after a directive from the Office of the President, is intended to allow for a full investigation into the matter.

The decision follows a formal complaint submitted by the presidency, prompting the Minister for Communications to act swiftly.

A letter dated July 15, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, described Mr. Agbeti’s actions as “inappropriate,” noting that the incident had “brought embarrassment to the government.”

Sources say the soldier accompanied Agbeti during public events, a move that raised eyebrows within official circles due to the lack of proper clearance for such arrangements.
