The minority leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has reminded Haruna Iddrisu that his rise to the next level in politics will depend on what he does in his current portfolio.
The leader was speaking at the Northern Ghana Development Conference held at the University for Development Studies in the Northern Region, Tamale, when he made this known.
He noted the trajectory in which Haruna Iddrisu’s political career has taken over the years and believes that his efforts in the Education Ministry, which he leads, will be what will propel him to the next level.
“Babaru, your rise to the next level will materially depend on what you do in education; the ball is in your court. I mean, the Minister of Education, he was the Minister of Trade some years ago, and he became the Minister of Employment, then he became the Minority leader, and now he is the Minister of Education. But I am saying that his effort in this sector will help him, so the ball is in his court. He can decide to partner; a partnership is good, he can compromise,” he said.
Some polls put Haruna Iddrisu as the best candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 elections. However, he has mentioned that he does not know what the future holds for him.
