Tema police gun down 3 armed robbers in Kpone shootout

The Tema Regional Police Command has confirmed the death of three suspected armed robbers following a fierce gun battle in the early hours of July 21, 2025, at the Tema Industrial Area.
According to a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Regional Police Headquarters and signed by ASP Dede Dzakpasu, the police responded to a distress call involving an attempted robbery by a group of about ten men.
“The Tema Regional Police Command on July 21, 2025, responded to a distress call regarding armed men numbering about ten breaking into a warehouse at the Tema Industrial Area,” the statement read.
Upon arrival, the responding patrol team engaged the suspects, resulting in a gunfire exchange.
“Three of the suspects were shot in the process and have been pronounced dead. The remaining suspects, some of whom are believed to have sustained gunshot wounds, fled the scene,” the police said.
Exhibits retrieved at the scene included:
- A Bruni mod foreign pistol
- A double-barrelled locally manufactured pistol with two rounds of ammunition
- Eleven live BB ammunition
The police confirmed that the deceased have been sent to the Police Hospital Morgue for identification and autopsy, while investigations are ongoing to track down the remaining suspects.
“We would like to commend officers of the Kpone District Command for the timely response,” ASP Dzakpasu added.
