Galamsey has exploded under NDC – Kodua

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has taken a strong swipe at the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the current administration of allowing illegal mining activities—popularly known as galamsey—to spiral out of control.
Speaking at a press conference held at the NPP headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, Kodua did not mince words, claiming that the NDC’s return to power has coincided with a sharp and troubling rise in environmentally destructive mining activities.
“What we are witnessing in the last six, seven months of the NDC government is unprecedented,” Kodua said, painting a bleak picture of the country’s forests and rivers under siege.
He alleged that some NDC party officials and members are not only complicit but are active participants in the illegal activities ravaging Ghana’s natural resources.
“The manner in which people associated with the NDC—party executives and members—are freely entering our forest reserves and water bodies to engage in galamsey is alarming,” he stated.
