Paul Adom-Otchere returns to OSP after initial release

Paul Adom-Otchere has reportedly been called back to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) after being released earlier in the company of Attorney General Godfred Dame and lawyers from Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co.

The update was first shared by Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana, which indicated that the journalist and former Ghana Airports Company Board Chair had been released but was subsequently summoned again by the OSP for further proceedings.

The development follows heightened public interest in the bail conditions imposed on Adom-Otchere during his initial interaction with the OSP. In response to growing criticism, the OSP clarified its legal position on bail requirements.

In a video explanation, the OSP himself defended the need for suspects to present landed property as part of the bail process.

“The OSP has a suspect and you say you do not have any landed property, you can’t bail yourself if you don’t have any landed property. We move with the value of the property. Bring what you have,” Kissi Ayebeng had explained.

He further stressed that the policy is not punitive but rather a legal safeguard to ensure cooperation with investigations.

“It is also to encourage you not to run because if you run away, that property will be confiscated to the state. So it is to encourage you to show up,” they said.

The OSP also made it clear that failure to meet the conditions essentially leaves suspects without options. “If you can’t provide that property, you give up your right to bail,” the official warned.
